It’s the time for introspection in fact high time for introspection. This should have been done way back in 2012 after defeat in 2012 UP elections. What followed after that was just one defeat after other for the grand old party. Congress president Sonia Gandhi is out of active politics since then and Vice president Rahul Gandhi has taken over from her and acting as President as well. Under his leadership the party has seen historic losses in all form of elections. Right from local bodies to General election. Is this not enough to understand his leadership is not acceptable to the people of India and mostly to his own party members?
Most of the members who are getting elected from BJP or who are molding the party for victories are the past members of congress who have gone away from party due to unacceptable leadership of Mr. Rahul Gandhi and his arrogance or so called ignorance. Are this reasons not sufficient to dethrone him from party?
Why the grand old party cannot come up with strategy to revamp themselves? Is it so hard to revamp? Not at all. Its matter of just few steps which can bring Congress back into lime light and more relevant in party affairs.
The change in leadership is the need of hour. Rahul Gandhi needs to step down and so is Sonia Gandhi and handover the party leadership to non-Gandhi member. P. Chidambaram, Sachin Pilot, Scindia, Deora, Tharoor are few to name. Having the combination of young leader and experienced one like Chidambaram can revamp the party which is in shackles of becoming non relevant in Indian politics.
But certainly this change is not enough to fight against the mighty combination of Modi-Shah. There is wide acceptance for PM Modi across all sections of society. There should be person of his caliber to de-throne him. There should be leader who talks his language. The language of development, industrialization and of course sab ka saath sab ka vikas. P. Chidambaram is good leader but he will not be able to connect with masses as he will adamant not to speak in hindi. Leaders like Scindia, pilot are still young and do not have proven past records to fight against PM. So is this all over and Congress should simply keep watching?
My take over here is Congress should make a coalition of bigger kind with regional parties and should be given bigger role for their leaders. One such coalition will be with Bihar CM Nitish Kumar. Let Congress make him as their PM candidate for 2019 and get support of other regional parties for this mission. CM Kumar has a proven track record and has been a successful CM. He is not as tall as PM Modi but as of now he is the only person who can talk language of PM and bring hopes for Congress.
Without any delay Congress should involve in talks with CM Kumar and change the leadership from Gandhi family. If this is not done then 2019 is just going to be formality for PM Modi and BJP/RSS.
Thank you Gandhi family for ruling Congress for so long and providing us good governance. But to have future governance from this party country needs you to step down.
